Bucheon Chunui-dong R&D Complex Center to be Completed in May
The 'R&D Comprehensive Center,' a key facility of the Chunui Urban Regeneration Project in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, will be completed in May.
The Bucheon Chunui Urban Regeneration Project has been promoted since 2016 as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public contest project, with major initiatives including ▲ establishment of the R&D Comprehensive Center ▲ creation of the aboveground M?bius Plaza ▲ development of MESSE Street ▲ establishment of the IoT Innovation Center, among others.
The newly completed 'R&D Innovation Center' is located at 38 Chunui-dong, Bucheon-si, and spans from two basement floors to 13 floors above ground, with a total floor area of 17,000㎡.
This center will house spaces for research and development (R&D) companies, offices and lecture rooms to support startups, a public equipment usage center, a venture caf?, and corporate support spaces such as an urban integrated control center.
The Chunui-dong area is a factory-dense region, with nearby industrial zones, Bucheon Technopark, and the Ojeong General Industrial Complex, and transit-oriented development is being promoted around the Jonghap Sports Complex Station.
Gyeonggi-do expects that once the 'R&D Comprehensive Center' is completed, it will create an economic hub for research and production, strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and serving as a foundation for growth.
Kim Tae-su, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Chunui-dong is promoting urban regeneration projects including the R&D Comprehensive Center by maximizing regional advantages such as connections with nearby industrial areas and complexes," adding, "We will actively cooperate with cities and counties to make efforts."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi-do has achieved the highest number nationwide with 66 sites selected in government urban regeneration public contest projects by collaborating with cities, counties, and urban regeneration support centers to revitalize declining old downtown areas within the province up to last year. Currently, including 13 Gyeonggi-do type urban regeneration projects, urban regeneration projects are being promoted at 79 sites.
