Mayor Lee Gang-deok: "Continuous Efforts for the Promotion of Disabled Persons' Rights and Social Integration"
On the 19th, Pohang City held a commemorative ceremony for Disabled Persons Day and a job fair for people with disabilities at the Pohang Indoor Gymnasium.
This event was held to celebrate Disabled Persons Day on April 20th, inviting about 1,500 local people with disabilities, their families, and volunteers to simultaneously hold a commemorative ceremony, a Harmony Festival, and a job fair for people with disabilities.
The ceremony began with pre-event performances such as children's cheerleading and samulnori by people with developmental disabilities, followed by the reading of the Charter of Rights for Persons with Disabilities and the awarding of commendations to contributors to disability welfare.
At this event, an exhibition of products made by people with disabilities and job fair booths were operated to provide on-site interviews and employment counseling for job seekers and employers with disabilities. The job fair featured 9 hiring companies, 14 institutional promotion booths, and 14 disability promotion booths.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok attended the ceremony and toured the job fair site, encouraging representatives of hiring companies and listening to the difficulties faced by job seekers in finding employment.
In the afternoon, the event included celebratory performances such as invited singer performances, talent shows, and lucky draw raffles, creating a time of harmony where all attendees could come together beyond disabilities.
Additionally, side events provided various opportunities for information and experience, including ▲ Dementia prevention promotion by Nam-gu Public Health Center ▲ Exciting e-sports experience and visiting sports services by Pohang Disabled Sports Association ▲ Free hairdressing services by the Pohang Buk-gu branch of the Korea Beauty Association ▲ Hanji craft experience by the Pohang branch of the Korea Parents of Disabled Persons Association ▲ Fan decorating experience by the Pohang branch of the Gyeongbuk Parents of Disabled Persons Association ▲ A warm tea gathering hosted by the Pohang branch of the Korea Rural and Fishery Disabled Promotion Association.
