Jangseong-gun to Host Canola Flower Festival on 20-21...Various Experiences and Performances Included

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it will hold the ‘Canola Flower Festival’ in the Sandong-ri area of Jinwon-myeon from the 20th to the 21st.

The ‘Jinwon-myeon Sandong-ri Canola Flower Festival,’ held for the first time this year, features canola flowers as the main attraction, as the name suggests.

The canola flower fields stretching from the village entrance evoke the sentiments of spring. Visitors can take commemorative photos while strolling along the canola flower path or participate in various programs.

As expected from a canola flower festival, there are diverse flower-related experiences. Visitors can try canola flower exhibitions, making canola flower tea, tasting canola kimchi, and making canola flower bracelets.

Unique events that are usually hard to experience also await. Activities that stimulate children’s curiosity, such as horseback riding and exhibitions of jeoncha (tracked vehicles) and armored vehicles, will be available.

There will also be abundant performances. Events such as Nanta, magic shows, balloon shows, and Pumbaa will entertain the eyes and ears throughout the festival period. A ‘live karaoke’ where residents and visitors mingle will add to the excitement.

Yang Jeong-ok, Chairperson of the Jinwon-myeon Canola Flower Festival Promotion Committee, said, “We will prepare with utmost sincerity so that Jinwon’s beautiful spring scenery can remain a precious memory for visitors.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Jinwon-myeon Sandong-ri Canola Flower Festival’ is one of the small-scale village festivals held by Jangseong residents utilizing local resources.

After the Canola Flower Festival, the Hwangryong-myeon Baetnadri Festival (June 1?2), Samseo-myeon Lawn Culture Festival (mid-September), Seosam-myeon Chukryeongsan Cypress Forest Festival (October 5?6), and Bukim-myeon Samnam-daero Street Art Festival (October 26?27) will be held.

Village festivals supported by Jeollanam-do will also be held. Selected through a small-scale festival contest, village festivals are being prepared in Jangseong-eup and Donghwa and Samgye-myeon.

Kim Han-jong, the county governor, said, “We plan to establish a festival culture that reflects the unique charm of each village in the region,” and added, “We hope many people visit the Jinwon-myeon Sandong-ri Canola Flower Festival held in the beautiful flower fields.”
