Gochang-gun Supports 17 Agricultural Drones to Alleviate Rural Labor Shortage

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is supporting 17 agricultural drones in towns and townships this year and is expected to play a significant role in alleviating labor shortages in rural areas.

According to the county on the 8th, this year, with a project budget of 585 million KRW, 14 drones were provided for village-level joint pest control teams for rice, and 3 drones were supported for pilot projects of new technologies such as AI nozzles and spraying devices to reduce drift.

Recently, in Sangham-myeon, a briefing and demonstration of the latest drone models were held to efficiently promote the expansion of the village drone pest control support project.

Agricultural drones are used for spraying fertilizers and herbicides on large-scale rice farming, field crops, and forage crops.

They adjust altitude and speed to spray an appropriate amount of pesticides on crops. Accurate and uniform spraying is very effective for pest control and labor reduction.

In particular, the county operates an "Agricultural Drone Utilization Training Course" and supports obtaining agricultural drone qualifications.

This year, 25 people were selected to receive qualification training. So far, 33 farms in Gochang-gun have obtained drone qualifications.

The county plans to continue supporting many farmers to easily use drones and expand support for village-level drone pest control teams every year.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, "We will provide multifaceted support to respond to severe climate change every year, resolve labor shortages due to rural aging, and ensure timely pest control."
