Gumi-si, Youth Participation in Various Fields... A Lively Forum for Dialogue
Meeting of the 'Youth Policy Participation Group' Composed of Startups, Culture, Agriculture, University Students, and Office Workers
Discovering Projects Such as Job Preparation Free Pass and Gumi-Young Energy Project
On the 29th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held its March regular meeting with about 30 members of the Youth Policy Participation Group attending at the city hall's main conference room.
The Gumi City Youth Policy Participation Group holds regular monthly meetings to propose various opinions on overall city administration and youth policies. The practical ideas gathered from the youth through these meetings are actively reflected in Gumi City's youth policies.
The meeting was conducted with discussions on the Youth Policy Participation Group's workshop planning, youth hope campaigns, and other group activities, as well as Gumi City's youth policies.
The ‘Employment Preparation Free Pass (ChwijunPASS)’ project, launched for the first time this year, originated from suggestions made during last year's Youth Policy Participation Group inauguration ceremony. It supports unemployed youth by covering the costs of renting interview suits.
Additionally, the ‘Gumi Young Energy Project’ is a program aimed at activating side projects of youth residing in Gumi City. It supports youth in creating local brands that contribute to the community, as well as employment and startup activities.
Park Gi-won, team leader of the Youth Policy Participation Group, proposed this project saying, “We want to benchmark good youth policies from other local governments to establish policies for the youth in our region.” The city organized the project after various discussions.
The Gumi City Youth Policy Participation Group is a youth communication body that discovers and proposes policies through the active participation of youth residing in the area. It started in 2019 with 28 youth members, expanded to 132 members by July 2023, and currently has 156 active members.
