Gongju-si, 1st Supplementary Budget Proposal of 1.2141 Trillion Won Formulated
Accelerating the Promotion of Pledges and Priority Projects
Gongju City in Chungnam announced on the 5th that it has prepared and submitted the first supplementary budget of 1.2141 trillion won for this year to the city council.
This represents a 21.5% increase compared to this year's original budget of 999.4 billion won, consisting of 1.119 trillion won in the general account and 95.1 billion won in the special account.
The city focused on accelerating the progress of key projects in the 8th term of the elected administration and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
In particular, 35.7 billion won was allocated for recovery from damages caused by the heavy rains in July last year.
Additionally, to ease the management burdens of local small business owners and farmers struggling due to the economic downturn, 8.9 billion won was allocated for issuing Gongju Pay, and 10.3 billion won for the Chungcheongnam-do Farmers and Fishermen Allowance.
Furthermore, to enhance citizens' leisure activities and quality of life, the budget includes △ 6.4 billion won for creating a waterfront recreational space in the Geumgang Shingwan Ssangsin district △ 3 billion won for the Jeongancheon Ecological Park △ 4.6 billion won for an all-weather sports facility △ 1 billion won for a park golf course for the disabled △ 1.5 billion won for establishing smart senior centers.
Also included are △ 3.7 billion won for creating the Hoseo Theater citizen platform △ 2.3 billion won for the Book Workshop Book Art Center △ 13 billion won for the Chungnam-style Rural Live Together project △ 4.3 billion won for mid-scale LPG pipeline construction △ 1.9 billion won for the construction of the 2nd Geumgang Bridge.
For securing future growth engines, the budget includes △ 2.5 billion won for developing the Donghyeon District Smart Creative City △ 600 million won for restoring the old Geumgang waterway △ 7.5 billion won for forest leisure sports facilities △ 2.5 billion won for developing nighttime tourism content and creating scenic landscapes.
Mayor Choi Won-cheol said, “This first supplementary budget aims to make the achievements of Gongju City's priority projects more visible and focuses on improving citizens' quality of life. Once approved by the council, we will concentrate administrative efforts to ensure the budget is promptly executed.”

Meanwhile, Gongju City's first supplementary budget plan is expected to be finalized on the 19th after review by the Gongju City Council.
