On the 2nd, POSCO Holdings announced an organizational restructuring that reduced the existing 13 teams to 9 teams, along with executive personnel changes.
POSCO Holdings plans to enhance the speed of decision-making in group management, improve overall organizational execution, and strengthen the core competitiveness of key businesses such as steel and secondary battery materials by streamlining the holding company's organizational structure and reinforcing its control tower function.
First, the main functions of carbon neutrality work, which were separately carried out by the Steel Team, Hydrogen Business Team, and POSCO Carbon Neutrality Strategy Office within the holding company, will be integrated and managed by a newly established "Carbon Neutrality Team" under the Strategic Planning Division of the holding company. This is expected to further strengthen the establishment and execution of group-level carbon neutrality strategies.
Additionally, to strengthen strategic planning and business promotion for the secondary battery materials business, the business management function has been transferred under the Strategic Planning Division, creating the newly established "Secondary Battery Materials Business Management Department." To reinforce the group's research and development (R&D) control tower, a "Technology Division" has been established, and new business planning and venture functions of POSCO Technology Investment have also been transferred to strengthen new business discovery and investment led by the holding company.
To enhance employees' ethical awareness and strengthen compliance functions, the ESG Team and Legal Team have been integrated into the "Corporate Ethics Team," and an "Office of the Board of Directors" has been newly established to support strategic decision-making by the board.
Meanwhile, the recent regular personnel appointments at POSCO Holdings highlight the remarkable advancement of female executives with expertise and capabilities. Lee Yoo-kyung, president of N2V and the first female business company CEO in POSCO Group's history, has been appointed as head of the POSCO Holdings Management Support Team. Additionally, Kim Hee, head of POSCO's Carbon Neutrality Strategy Office and the first female public recruitment employee at POSCO, who has served as the manager of the 2nd Steelmaking Plant at Gwangyang Steelworks and head of the Production Technology Planning Group, will take charge of carbon neutrality strategy in the Carbon Neutrality Team.
Han Mi-hyang, head of POSCO's Communication Office and a leading PR expert within the group who has served as head of the PR Group at POSCO and POSCO Future M as well as deputy general manager of media relations at POSCO Holdings, has been appointed as the head of public relations in the Communication Team. Furthermore, POSCO Holdings has recruited Lee Young-hwa, a former professional consultant, as brand strategy manager to strengthen group-level brand strategy. Within the group companies, An Mi-seon, head of the Purchasing Planning Group at POSCO E&C, will serve as head of the Purchasing Contract Office.
Reflecting Chairman Jang In-hwa's field-centered management philosophy, POSCO, the business company, has abolished the Production Technology Headquarters and elevated the positions of the Pohang Steelworks and Gwangyang Steelworks managers to headquarters-level to strengthen responsibility management by steelworks and establish a swift decision-making system.
