Korea Customs Service Hosts International Seminar in Seoul to Commemorate 20th Anniversary of FTA Enforcement
The Korea Customs Service announced on the 2nd that from the 2nd to the 4th, more than 200 officials from overseas customs authorities and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) stakeholders will gather at the InterContinental Hotel in Seoul for the 'FTA 2.0 Seminar.'

View original imageThe seminar was organized to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the FTA enforcement. Under the slogan "20 Years of Challenge, Leap Forward with FTA 2.0," the main purpose of the seminar is to review the past 20 years, discuss ways to develop the FTA system, and explore cooperation measures by considering the role of customs authorities in the rapidly changing trade environment.
In particular, the seminar gains significance as customs experts from 59 countries that have concluded FTAs will gather in one place to discuss issues faced during the FTA implementation stages, such as ▲origin verification ▲FTA application and implementation systems ▲origin management using new technologies, and propose practical solutions.

A Korea Customs Service official said, "Trade volume with FTA partner countries accounts for 80% of the country's total trade volume," adding, "We will strive to ensure that the FTA establishes itself as a core growth engine of our economy and continues to deliver value through this seminar."
