SMACK, Hexagon Form Strategic 'Partnership'..."Enhancing Expertise"
SMEC announced on the 2nd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a leader in sensors, software, and autonomous technology, to promote the value of smart manufacturing in the Industry 4.0 era.
The MOU signing ceremony was held at SMEC's booth (04A540) at SIMTOS 2024, the largest domestic production manufacturing technology exhibition currently underway at KINTEX in Ilsan. The event was attended by Youngseop Choi, CEO of SMEC, and Brian Sung, President of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Korea. Both companies expect to create synergy through close cooperation and mutual technology exchange.
Through this MOU, SMEC plans to strengthen its expertise in machine tools by integrating Hexagon’s technology and solutions. Using Hexagon’s CAD/CAM software, SMEC will provide high-end equipment currently under development with digital twin and interference analysis technologies to prevent equipment collisions and facilitate complex machining processes. Additionally, by utilizing the Measurement System for Machine Tools (MTM), the supply and sales of Y-axis turning centers capable of complex machining with a single setup are expected to expand significantly.
Brian Sung, President of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Korea, stated, “We will cooperate to apply Hexagon’s digital twin technology to various equipment development processes at SMEC. Through continuous collaboration, we will actively strive to ensure that Hexagon’s technologies and solutions are utilized for manufacturing process automation and autonomy in SMEC and other domestic companies located in the Gyeongnam region.”
Youngseop Choi, CEO of SMEC, explained, “SMEC is actively adopting full process automation to meet the requirements of various industries such as aerospace, defense, and semiconductors in the development of machine tools, industrial robots, and information and communication equipment. We expect Hexagon’s digital reality solutions to help accelerate SMEC’s customized machine development and expand supply volume.”
