Hyosung Holds Funeral Ceremony for Honorary Chairman Cho Seok-rae
Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of the Hyosung Group, vowed to honor the late Cho Seok-rae, Honorary Chairman of Hyosung Group, by making Hyosung "an even stronger and more resilient company."
On the morning of the 2nd, starting at 8 a.m., Hyosung Group held a funeral ceremony for the late Honorary Chairman Cho at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul. About 300 people attended the ceremony, including Chairman Cho, Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang and other bereaved family members, Lee Hong-gu, Honorary Funeral Chairman (former Prime Minister), Lee Sang-woon, Funeral Chairman (Vice Chairman), Ryu Jin, Chairman of the Korea Economic Association, Kim Yoon, Chairman of the Korea-Japan Economic Association, Seo Seok-soong, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea-Japan Economic Association, and Hyosung employees.

View original imageThe funeral began with a moment of silence for the deceased, followed by a eulogy by Pastor Kim Jang-hwan (Chairman of Far East Broadcasting Company), tributes by Chairman Ryu, and a tribute by Vice Chairman Lee Sang-woon.
Chairman Cho, speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, said, "My father dedicated his entire life to the development of Hyosung and the Republic of Korea. He always put the company before himself and the country before the company."
He continued, "Today’s Hyosung is the crystallization of my father’s foresight into the future, his iron will that never gives up, his curiosity about cutting-edge science and technology, and his fierce determination to be number one in the world. My father nurtured Hyosung into a company that shines like a bright morning star at dawn," he commemorated.
He added, "Our family will deeply engrave the teachings left by my father in our hearts and strive to become great assets that contribute to society. And we will make Hyosung, which my father loved so dearly, an even stronger and more resilient company," he emphasized.
Vice Chairman Lee, in his tribute, recalled, "Just witnessing the chairman’s insight and foresight up close was a great enlightenment, and I was able to learn a lot. His deep understanding of the entire business, his sharp attention to detail, his leadership that developed the company to a global level, and his boldness in overcoming crises made him a highly respected figure in many ways."
Vice Chairman Lee added, "The chairman also played a significant role in the economic community with his high insight and foresight. He led various economic organizations, including the Federation of Korean Industries, and devoted himself to economic cooperation with many countries around the world such as the United States, Japan, and Europe."
