Government to Enhance Youth Fact-Checking Skills
Enhancing Media Competency on the Theme of 'Economy'
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Press Foundation are accepting applications for the Youth Checkathon competition until the 20th of next month.
Checkathon is a compound word of fact-check and marathon. In the competition, participants verify the facts of various information and content, and write and share reports. It aims to expand awareness of media literacy and encourage critical thinking about false and manipulated information.
In the past, the themes were closely related to social issues such as the environment, hate, discrimination, fake news, and false information in our neighborhoods. This year, the theme is the economy. The plan is to foster communication through free access to and understanding of the media.
