Seongsoo Jeon, Seocho District Mayor, Participates in Tree Planting to Commemorate the 79th Arbor Day
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held the '79th Arbor Day Tree Planting Event' on the 29th at Umyeonsan (248-3 Bangbae 3-dong) with residents to celebrate the 79th Arbor Day.
This event was organized to raise awareness of the importance of forests, restore natural landscapes, and prevent forest disasters. It took place in the area of Umyeonsan forest damage restoration, which was affected by heavy rain in August 2022.
On this day, about 160 participants including residents and members of forestry organizations took part in tree planting activities to reflect on the meaning of Arbor Day, creating a space for communication and harmony for a happy today and an anticipated tomorrow in Seocho.
The participants planted 120 tall trees such as Sansuyu and Bokjagi, and 2,200 small trees such as Hwangmaehwa, practicing the spread of green culture in daily life and having a meaningful time to once again appreciate the value of nature and the environment.
Seocho-gu expects that Umyeonsan will provide visual enjoyment for residents who take walks there and help reduce fine dust and alleviate the urban heat island effect.
