Silla University Department of Social Welfare Holds Volunteer Workshop This Year
The Value of Volunteering Conveyed by Graduates
The Department of Social Welfare at Silla University (President Heo Nam-sik) held the ‘2024 Volunteer Workshop’ for new students.
Every year, the Department of Social Welfare at Silla University conducts a volunteer workshop for new students with the purpose of educating them on the core values of volunteering, encouraging them to think about practical approaches, and sharing opinions.
The ‘2024 Volunteer Workshop’ held on the 21st included representatives from welfare institutions that are entrusted agencies of Silla University and collaborate with the Department of Social Welfare, such as Busan Sajik Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Dongnae-gu Senior Welfare Center, Busan Youth Support Center, and Sasang-gu Volunteer Center, providing an opportunity to vividly convey voices from the field.
In particular, alumni currently working at each institution visited in person to give lectures based on their direct experiences, covering topics from university life know-how, volunteer introduction and guidance, field experiences, to the mindset of social workers, which received great responses from the new students.
Bang Hye-rim, a third-year student who presented a volunteer case that day, shared her thoughts: “I felt reassured because there were alumni seniors who personally gave lectures and explained the characteristics of each institution for the new students.”
