Lotte Chemical Applies Recycled Plastic to Packaging Bags
Packaging Bag with 30% Recycled Material
25kg PE Manufactured at Yeosu and Daesan Plants
Lotte Chemical announced that it has applied recycled materials to all 25kg packaging bags for PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) products produced at its Yeosu and Daesan plants.
The newly changed packaging bags contain 30% recycled materials and are made using r-PE (recycled polyethylene) from Lotte Chemical’s eco-friendly material brand, ‘ECOSEED’.
As of 2023, the Yeosu and Daesan plants use about 5,400 tons of plastic annually for packaging bags. It is expected that the application of ‘ECOSEED’ r-PE material packaging bags will reduce plastic usage by approximately 1,500 tons per year.
Since 2021, Lotte Chemical has been conducting research and development to apply recycled plastic packaging bags. With the cooperation of its customers, it is establishing a plastic circular system that collects waste packaging materials and produces raw materials for r-PE bags. In the future, the company plans to expand the application of r-PE bags to various products within the Lotte Chemical group affiliates.
