Gangseo-gu Conducts Special Inspection for Violations of the Public Official Election Act Ahead of National Assembly Elections
For the Establishment of Public Service Discipline
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) will establish public officials' discipline ahead of the "22nd National Assembly Election" on the 10th of next month. This is to prevent violations of political neutrality obligations and improper solicitations that are likely to occur during the election period in advance, and to maintain a strict working attitude as public officials.
To this end, the district will conduct special inspections for violations of the Public Official Election Act, the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials.
First, it will focus on inspecting violations of political neutrality obligations such as ▲public officials joining and participating in a specific political party or engaging in activities to support the election of a specific candidate ▲writing posts related to elections on social networking services (SNS) ▲expressing support or opposition to a specific political party.
In addition, it will focus on violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials, such as ▲receiving or demanding money, entertainment, or various conveniences from persons related to their duties ▲improperly intervening in or influencing personnel matters such as recruitment, promotion, or transfer.
Along with this, the district plans to strengthen service inspections such as ▲false business trips ▲unauthorized absence from the workplace to correct the service discipline, which can easily become lax.
If any violations are found, the district will apply a zero-tolerance principle and strictly discipline the violators by requesting disciplinary action regardless of the number of offenses. Through this, the district expects to raise employees' awareness and establish a proper public service culture.
