Targeted Only Staircase Apartments... Gang Arrested for Theft of Total 150 Million Won
A group of suspects who broke into old stair-step apartments by opening veranda doors and committing thefts were caught by the police.
On the 21st, the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested a total of five people, including three individuals in their 50s such as Mr. A, who stole cash, precious metals, and expensive watches worth approximately 150 million won in 12 incidents at stair-step apartments across the metropolitan area, as well as two others who provided vehicles and burner phones and helped them escape.
From December last year to March 5 of this year, they targeted apartments they judged to have weak security. The police identified that they specifically scouted locations where right-handed people could easily open doors among relatively spacious and high-floor units.
They used burner phones and moved their accommodations between Busan, Seoul, and other locations to evade police pursuit. After the crimes occurred, the police sequentially arrested the suspects through CCTV footage and tracking investigations.
