Choi Tae-won Confirmed for Reappointment as Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry

View original imageOn the 21st, at an extraordinary general meeting held at the KCCI headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, the current chairman Choi was unanimously elected as the 25th chairman.
The meeting, chaired by Lee Yoon-chul, chairman of the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, saw Yang Moon-seok, chairman of the Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, nominate Choi as the new chairman. All 80 attendees unanimously agreed. Accordingly, Chairman Choi succeeded in his reappointment following his 24th term. His new term will begin on the 26th and continue until March 2027. Earlier, on the 29th of last month, Choi was also re-elected as the 25th chairman of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a position he will hold concurrently with the KCCI chairmanship.
After his reappointment as chairman of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry was confirmed, Chairman Choi stated, "I will work in a direction that benefits the nation and the national economy." He added, "I believe my duty over the next three years is to contribute even a little to solving the economic and social challenges facing our country. Even if I cannot present clear solutions to long-standing issues, if I can create a direction and clues for solutions that many people can agree on, that alone will be of great significance."
Meanwhile, at the meeting, 15 vice chairmen of the KCCI were also confirmed. Following the custom of electing vice chairmen based on recommendations from metropolitan city chambers and provincial chamber councils nationwide, Yang Jae-saeng, chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Park Yoon-kyung, chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Park Joo-bong, chairman of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Han Sang-won, chairman of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Jung Tae-hee, chairman of the Daejeon Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Lee Yoon-chul, chairman of the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Bae Hae-dong, chairman of the Gyeonggi-do Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (chairman of the Anyang Gwacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry) were elected as vice chairmen. The full-time vice chairman has not yet been decided. In the business community, Park Il-jun, former 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is being mentioned as a candidate.
