Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju 'Gamja Supporters' Visit Jeongeup, Jeonbuk for Learning
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 19th that local governments seeking to learn about the ‘Gamja (Freedom from Infectious Diseases) Supporters (Promotion Team)’ project continue to visit.
Three officials from the Jeongeup City Health Center in Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province visited the Gwangsan-gu Health Center on the 19th to learn more about the operation of the ‘Gamja Supporters’ project.
Gwangsan-gu introduced the purpose of the ‘Gamja Supporters’ project, related ordinances, operation and activity directions, and achievements, and held a Q&A session to communicate specific details.
To help citizens strengthen their ability to prevent and respond to periodic and large-scale infectious disease outbreaks on their own, Gwangsan-gu formed and operated the ‘Gamja Supporters’ for the first time nationwide last year, consisting of residents and youth.
The active activities of the Gamja Supporters, such as content creation using official social media (blog) and promotion of infectious disease prevention rules to citizens, have attracted great attention. As a result, Gwangju Metropolitan City, as well as Seo-gu, Nam-gu, and Buk-gu in Gwangju, and Jangan-gu in Suwon City, Gyeonggi-do, have visited the Gwangsan-gu Health Center for benchmarking. Jeongeup City is the fifth local government to learn from the Gamja Supporters.
In particular, Gwangju City and Seo-gu and Nam-gu in Gwangju have reflected the ‘Gamja Supporters’ in their new projects this year and have started to promote them.
