Semes Ships 4000th Post-Process Equipment 'Prober'
Equipment First Developed in 2003
Semes, a domestic semiconductor manufacturing equipment company, announced on the 19th that it held a ceremony to commemorate the shipment of the 4,000th unit of its next-generation prober equipment used in semiconductor back-end processes. The ceremony, held at Semes' headquarters in Cheonan, was attended by CEO Jeong Taekyung, related personnel, and representatives of partner companies.
The probe station is equipment combined with a tester to inspect the electrical characteristics of semiconductor wafers. In 2018, it received the Best of Best Award in the Red Dot Industrial Design Concept category, one of the world's top three design awards.
Since developing the equipment in 2003, Semes has achieved the milestone of shipping 4,000 units in just over 20 years. The company explained that this achievement is especially meaningful as it was accomplished in the back-end process sector, which has been gaining importance in the semiconductor industry recently.
