Yoon Holds Video Conference with Denmark and Kenya
The government announced on the 15th that it plans to hold the 3rd Democracy Summit under the theme "Democracy for Future Generations" over three days from March 18 to 20.
The Democracy Summit is a forum launched in 2021 under the leadership of U.S. President Biden. This is the first time the Democracy Summit is held solely outside the United States, with South Korea hosting it.
The 2nd Summit was co-hosted by the United States along with South Korea, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, and Zambia in March last year.
On the first day of the 3rd Democracy Summit, March 18, a ministerial meeting will be held under the theme "Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology, and Democracy." On the 19th, events such as thematic discussions and workshops led by domestic and international civil society will take place.
The main session of the 3rd Summit will be held virtually on the evening of the 20th. President Yoon Suk-yeol will participate in a virtual summit with Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Kenya's President William Ruto.
Following this, South Korea, Denmark, and Kenya will each chair virtual summit sessions. President Yoon plans to chair the second session on the theme "Technology, Elections, and Fake News." During this summit, initiatives to support the enhancement of innovation capabilities among global youth will also be announced.
