Chosun University Challenges Glocal University 30... Business Agreement Ceremony with 4 Universities
Chosun University is forming a consortium with four universities?Gwangju University, Gwangju Women's University, Nambu University, and Songwon University?to challenge the designation of Glocal University 30 through innovation and mutual growth based on cooperation.
On the 14th at 2 p.m., Chosun University held a 'Five-University Business Agreement Ceremony' at the Open Citizens Hall on the 4th floor of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council.
Attending the event were Ko Gwang-wan, Deputy Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; Shim Cheol-ui, Vice Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council; Im Mi-ran, Chairperson of the Administrative Committee; as well as Chosun University President Kim Chun-sung, Gwangju University Vice President Kim Gap-yong, Gwangju Women's University President Lee Seon-jae, Nambu University President Jo Jun-beom, and Songwon University President Choi Soo-tae.
Along with this business agreement, Chosun University and the other universities agreed to pool their capabilities to achieve the designation of Glocal University 30. Additionally, Gwangju City and the Gwangju Metropolitan Council expressed their intention to support the consortium.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ joint cultivation of talent for regional revitalization ▲ establishment of a unified decision-making governance for the consortium ▲ development and operation of regionally customized joint curricula ▲ education for employment and entrepreneurship, job creation, and improvement of conditions for regional settlement ▲ joint operation and support of global programs for foreign residents’ regional settlement ▲ cooperation to build a regional industry-academia cooperation platform.
During the event, greetings were delivered by the presidents of each university and congratulatory remarks were given by Ko Gwang-wan, Deputy Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Shim Cheol-ui, Vice Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, said, "I deeply appreciate that five universities in the Gwangju region have united their will to challenge the Glocal University 30 project. I believe the success of the Glocal University is the path for Gwangju’s development. The Gwangju Metropolitan Council will also concentrate all its capabilities to help achieve good results."

Kim Chun-sung, President of Chosun University, stated, "I believe that local governments and regions are one body. When universities thrive, the region thrives as well. I am grateful that several presidents agreed to this small proposal of a consortium and are participating in it." He added, "We will do our best to create an innovative model unique to our consortium and achieve results."
