KOTRA Holds Briefing Session to Support Defense and Strategic Goods Exports
Introduction to Export Procedures and Defense Industry Technology Trends
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA announced on the 15th that they will hold an 'Explanation Session on Export Permit Procedures for Defense and Strategic Items' for small and medium-sized enterprises interested in defense exports at the KOTRA headquarters in Yeomgok-dong, Seoul.
This session was organized to introduce the export procedures that our defense companies need to know and the latest technology trends in the defense sector. It will cover topics such as cases of export permits for defense and strategic items, cases of protection against defense technology leakage, and new security-related technologies including quantum cryptography and manned-unmanned hybrid systems.
Exporting defense materials requires following the permit review procedures step by step, so it is important for companies to understand the regulations. In addition, strategic items include all dual-use goods and technologies that can be used for weapons, so items such as dental milling machines or thermal imaging cameras must also obtain permits before export. If these procedures are violated and exports proceed without permission, companies may face sanctions, so caution is necessary.
