Seoul City Invites 300 Underprivileged People to 'MLB Seoul Series'
Training for 90 Youth Players and Active Athletes
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will invite 300 underprivileged citizens to the 2024 MLB World Tour Seoul Series. For youth baseball players, a clinic will be held where Major League players will provide direct training.
On the 15th, the city announced that in cooperation with MLB, it will invite 300 people from low-income families, young caregivers, multicultural families, and others to the stadium to provide an opportunity to watch world-class baseball games.
A total of 300 people will be invited, with 50 people per game, to four exhibition games held on the 17th and 18th, and two Major League opening games held on the 20th and 21st.
To promote youth baseball development, Seoul will also hold the "MLB World Tour Seoul Series Play Ball Clinic" on the 16th for about 90 youth players.
Participants include 30 recommended by the Seoul city government and 60 recommended by MLB. Seoul recommended players who continue to pursue their baseball dreams despite difficult circumstances, including those selected for the "Future Hope Sports Talent Development Project." This project provides scholarships to outstanding low-income elementary, middle, and high school student athletes in Seoul so they can continue to focus on their sports activities.
The Play Ball Clinic is divided into three sessions: pitching, hitting, and infield defense, where professional players will train 90 youth players. Two players from the LA Dodgers, two from the San Diego Padres, and three from Team Korea will participate. The 90 participants will be divided into three groups of 30 and rotate through each session for training.
