Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do is accelerating the establishment of a system linked to the CCTV Integrated Control Center to strengthen village crime prevention.
According to the county on the 14th, since 2022, they have been replacing outdated CCTVs in all 515 villages within the jurisdiction and building dedicated optical cable networks on a village basis, aiming for integrated control by promoting a project to establish a system linking the county and villages to the CCTV Integrated Control Center.
Through this project, village crime prevention CCTVs will be connected to the county integrated control center to conduct 24-hour CCTV monitoring, strengthening and operating village crime prevention without blind spots.
In 2022, 151 CCTVs were installed in 44 villages for the first time and integrated control began. In 2023, the installation of 435 CCTVs in 88 villages and integrated control were expanded.
This year, 253 CCTVs will be installed in 77 villages, and integrated control for all villages is planned to be completed by 2026.
In this regard, Haenam-gun held a 2024 project briefing session in 76 villages within the jurisdiction on the 7th and 8th.
At the briefing, attended by village chiefs and related personnel from the target villages, the project plan was explained, including the village crime prevention CCTV integrated control project, the Personal Information Protection Act, and video information request guidance, and a communication session was held to tour the CCTV Integrated Control Center.
The unification of village crime prevention CCTV monitoring is the first project of its kind nationwide, and it is spreading nationwide as a leading exemplary case, having received the Korea Crime Prevention Award, the Excellence Award at the Jeollanam-do Active Administration Best Practice Competition, and being selected as an excellent case in the active administration evaluation for institutional representatives.
By visiting every corner of the village and discovering safety blind spots with village residents, the field-oriented design that reflects the characteristics of the village to the fullest extent is contributing to building the safest CCTV monitoring network.
