BNK Busan Bank, First in Banking Sector to Join 'Go Green Plus' Service
Leading Regional ESG Company Contributes to Carbon Emission Reduction
Using Eco-Friendly Aviation Fuel in DHL Delivery Service
Bank President Bang Seong-bin, "Social Responsibility to Solve Environmental Issues"
BNK Busan Bank has become the first domestic bank in Korea to join the ‘GoGreen Plus’ service, which uses Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to reduce carbon emissions generated during the delivery process.
GoGreen Plus is a service launched last year in Korea by the international express company DHL. It is a customer participation service that allows member customers to take part in activities that reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% by bearing part of the additional cost for purchasing sustainable aviation fuel.
Sustainable aviation fuel derived from waste oil, waste, and residues has the advantage of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over its lifecycle compared to conventional jet fuel.
By subscribing to this service, Busan Bank will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions indirectly generated during logistics transportation and distribution processes, and it can measure the reduction amount annually and obtain certificates issued by accredited certification bodies.
Bang Sung-bin, CEO of Busan Bank, said, “As a leading regional ESG company, we consider it meaningful to participate in carbon emission reduction activities,” adding, “Busan Bank will continue to fulfill its social responsibility in solving environmental issues including climate change and practice exemplary ESG management.”
