Dong-A University Global Tourism Education Research Team Hosts 'Sustainable Tourism Activation Ideas and Case Analysis Contest'

The 4th stage BK-21 Global Tourism SDGs Education and Research Team of the Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University, led by Professor Choi Kyu-hwan, held the "Busan Regional Sustainable Tourism Activation Ideas and Case Analysis Contest."

View original imageThis contest was held for all university students in the Busan area, including Dong-A University, with the theme of innovative ideas and case analyses that can achieve SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in the Busan regional tourism industry. A total of 13 teams participated, including 10 teams from Dong-A University undergraduate and graduate students, 2 teams from Dong-Eui University, and 1 team from Silla University.
After the first document screening and the second presentation evaluation, Kim Hee-joo (4th year, Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University) won the grand prize with the work titled "Busan Tourism, Energy Factory on the Alleyway."
In this work, she received favorable reviews for recognizing the importance of the old downtown alleyways of Busan before promoting sustainable tourism in Busan and proposing the idea of creating a village hotel operated directly by residents in Bongsan Village, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, thereby laying the foundation for a tourism industry led by local residents.
The excellence award was given to two teams: Kim Soo-min and Kim Ji-na (2nd year, Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University) and Yoon Won-bin, Kim Hyun-seo, and Choi Ga-eun (Department of Hotel Convention Management at Dong-Eui University).
The merit award went to Jo Seo-young (4th year, Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University) and the team of Kwon Hyun-jin, Park Ji-hwan, and Choi Joo-eun (Department of Hotel Convention at Dong-Eui University), while the encouragement award was given to the BK-21 participating graduate students Jang Ji-hyun and Ramtukkan (Department of Tourism Management at Dong-A University) and the team of Lee Sun-woo, Kim Soo-hyun, and Ha Jun-ho (Department of Aviation Service at Silla University).
Kim Hee-joo, who won the grand prize, said, "Through this contest, I experienced the importance of a sustainable tourism industry and the difficulties in the implementation process," adding, "It was an opportunity to develop the ability to derive realistic and effective solutions."
