Gurye-gun Opens Saturday Direct Market for Sansuyu Flower Festival
Local Specialty Products Sold at Discounted Prices Compared to Market Rates
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that from March 9 to 17, a Saturday Market in celebration of the Sansuyu Flower Festival will be held at the Gurye Seomjingang Food Specialty Masiljang (12 Hwaeomsa-ro, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do).
This Saturday Market is a direct transaction market for agricultural and marine specialty products involving seven cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, including Yeosu-si and Boseong-gun, selling local specialties at prices discounted from market retail prices.
The market will be open daily until March 17, and after the festival ends, it will be held every Saturday for 10 weeks until May 11.
Gurye-gun (9 vendors) will exhibit and sell products such as domestic wheat products, dried vegetables, plum syrup, shiitake mushrooms; Yeosu-si (2 vendors) will offer dried seafood, marinated crab, and traditional liquor; Boseong-gun (1 vendor) will present sauces and sesame oil.
Additionally, Hwasun-gun (1 vendor) will showcase various vegetables including puffed Jerusalem artichoke, Jangheung-gun (1 vendor) will offer gimbugak (seaweed chips) and pickled vegetables, Gokseong-gun (3 vendors) will sell bamboo salt, wasabi leaves and pickles, malt syrup and malt, Haenam-gun (1 vendor) will provide kimchi varieties, and Sinan-gun (1 vendor) will display salted seafood such as salted shrimp.
The Saturday Market is expected to serve as a venue for mutual growth between consumers and producers by providing consumers with opportunities to purchase high-quality agricultural specialties at affordable prices and opening direct sales channels for producers.
A county official stated, “We ask for much interest and visits to the Saturday Market, and we will do our best to secure sales channels for specialty products so that continuous purchases can be made even after the event.”
