Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is providing 200,000 KRW for safety facility installation costs to 100 households in vulnerable housing groups.
Basement or low-rise houses are prone to flood damage. Privacy invasion and crime risks are also high, so protective measures are needed to ensure safety.
Accordingly, the district supports installation costs to improve housing welfare. Safety protection facilities such as entrance insect screens, window shields and rain guards, and stair handrails are provided up to 200,000 KRW per household.
The beneficiaries are basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families residing in Gwangjin-gu. After selecting recipients through demand surveys in 15 neighborhoods, facility installation will begin in May with the cooperation of the Gwangjin-gu Housing Safety Comprehensive Center.
Last year, 101 households received support. Recipients said, "It was difficult for my parents to climb stairs due to mobility issues, but the handrails have reduced the inconvenience," and "Living alone was scary, but the shields make me feel safe even at night."
