According to the Daegu City Election Commission, Article 31, Paragraph 2 of the Political Funds Act prohibits anyone from donating political funds using money related to domestic corporations or organizations. However, Mr. A is suspected of giving 2.8 million won from the funds of the incorporated association he belongs to, among others, to 28 employees and having them donate political contributions to the support committee of a specific member of the National Assembly in their names in December 2022.
A representative of the Daegu Election Commission stated, “We have formed a dedicated financial crime task force to conduct ongoing prevention and crackdown activities against illegal political fund donations by corporations and organizations that hinder the establishment of a clean and transparent culture of small, multiple political fund contributions,” and urged active reporting and tips.
