Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam, Inspects Emergency Medical System at Masan Medical Center... Also Encourages Medical Staff
On the 11th, marking the 20th day of collective action by residents opposing the government's medical school expansion policy, Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, visited Masan Medical Center.
Governor Park inspected the emergency medical system at Masan Medical Center and reviewed the operation status of essential medical facilities such as the emergency room.
He met with medical staff and hospital workers to hear about the difficulties on site and offered encouragement.

Governor Park said, "In preparation for the prolonged medical vacuum caused by the collective action of residents, I hope Masan Medical Center, as a public medical institution, will strive to maintain and strengthen the emergency medical system so that residents do not experience inconvenience."
He added, "We will ensure that Gyeongnam Province can support medical institutions that have worked hard in emergency response during this situation with disaster management funds and other resources within the local government’s capacity."
Currently, Masan Medical Center has extended its consultation hours since the 27th of last month to fill the medical gap caused by the suspension of residents’ work in the province, and is maintaining 24-hour emergency room functions as a regional emergency medical institution.
The extended hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Previously, Gyeongnam Province activated the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, led by the governor, to maintain an emergency medical system including 24-hour operation of 34 emergency medical institutions, extended consultation hours at Masan Medical Center, and civilian opening of the emergency room at the Navy Marine Medical Center.
