Jindo-gun 'The Beginning of Spring, the Mysterious Sea' 44th Mysterious Sea Road Festival Opens

54 Diverse Events Including Seaside Torchlight Parade and Laser Attractions

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that the grand opening of the 44th Jindo Mysterious Sea Road Festival has taken place.

This year’s festival, under the theme "The Beginning of Spring, Mysterious Sea," continues for three days until the 13th in the Hoedong-ri area of Gogeun-myeon, Jindo-gun.

In 1975, Pierre Landy, the French ambassador to Korea, witnessed the Jindo Mysterious Sea Road and introduced it as the Korean version of the miracle of Moses in a French newspaper, making the Jindo Mysterious Sea Road widely known worldwide. Every year, numerous domestic and international tourists visit this site.

On the afternoon of the 10th, many residents and tourists visited Cheolma Park in Jindo-eup to enjoy congratulatory performances by famous singers and fireworks.

On the 11th, there will be a congratulatory performance by the county folk art troupe, followed by an opening ceremony performance at 3 p.m. featuring Song Ga-in, a singer from Jindo.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy the Bong Grandma family parade, the Namdo Pumba Master Exhibition, the Sea Road Meeting "Gyeonwoo and Jiknyeo" love contest with 44 couples, and throughout the three days, multimedia laser shows on the sea road and media art experiences simulating the sea road.

Especially on the 12th, a special recording of the nationwide singing contest will be held on a special stage in Gage, Gogeun-myeon, expected to greatly excite residents and tourists alike.

Designated as an honorary cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Jindo Mysterious Sea Road Festival showcases the mysterious sea road where the sea parts between Hoedong-ri in Gogeun-myeon and Modo-ri in Uisin-myeon, spanning 2 km in length and 30-40 meters in width, as well as promoting Jindo’s excellent culture and arts.

County Governor Kim Hee-su said, “The Jindo Mysterious Sea Road Festival, first held in 1978, has now reached its 44th edition. I hope everyone visiting the festival site fulfills their wishes and creates many joyful memories.”
