A Man in His 50s Arrested for 'Weapon Rampage' in Downtown Seoul in Broad Daylight
A man in his 50s who wielded a weapon on the streets of downtown Seoul in broad daylight has been apprehended.
The Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on the 8th that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of aggravated assault. Mr. A was arrested around 1:25 PM that day on a street in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, after attempting to light a fire in a flower bed and then wielding a weapon against a man who tried to stop him. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported to a hospital but is in stable condition. The police are investigating details of the case, including whether Mr. A was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, how he came to possess the weapon, and his motive for the crime. The police also stated, "We are considering support for the victim’s medical expenses and psychological care."
