View original imageDong-Eui University's fencing team was selected as the Best University Team of 2023 at the Korea Fencing Federation's regular general meeting and awards ceremony held on the 29th of last month at the Walkerhill Hotel & Resort in Seoul, in recognition of their contribution to nurturing outstanding athletes and the development of fencing in South Korea.
In 2023, Dong-Eui University's fencing team produced four male and female youth national representatives and won the women's sabre team silver medal and Jang Ji-won (3rd year, Department of Leisure Sports) won the women's individual bronze medal at the '2023 Asian Youth and Cadet Fencing Championships' held in Uzbekistan. Additionally, they achieved first place in the women's team and individual events and third place in the men's team at the 2023 Korea University Federation President's Cup, first place in the women's team and third place in the men's team at the National Men's and Women's Age Group Championships, and first place in the women's team and third place in the men's team at the National Men's and Women's University Fencing Championships.
In particular, Kim Jun-hyung (3rd year, Department of Physical Education) from the men's team and Jang Ji-won from the women's team proudly demonstrated the strongest university-level performance by winning bronze medals in the men's and women's sabre individual events at last year's National Sports Festival, where national team and professional team athletes competed, making them the only university athletes to earn medals.
