Jungnang-gu Selected for Seoul City Integrated Safety Smart Pole Construction Project Competition
Installation of Smart Poles in Children's Protection Zones by Mid-2024
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Jungnang District Mayor, "We Will Spare No Effort to Ensure Children's Traffic Safety"
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has been selected for Seoul City's integrated safety smart pole construction contest project.
A smart pole is an urban infrastructure that integrates poles such as streetlights and utility poles, which were previously installed individually, with intelligent CCTV, public Wi-Fi, smart crosswalks, speed cameras, fine dust and floating population sensors (S-DoT), and more.
By integrating facilities that were installed separately according to their functions into one, it not only reduces installation costs but also improves the cityscape.
The district plans to install smart poles in child protection zones to further enhance children's traffic safety. The existing disorderly installed facilities will be reorganized, and full-scale construction will begin in April, aiming to complete the installation within the first half of the year.
Once the smart poles are installed, traffic accidents in child protection zones are expected to decrease significantly.
