Yeosu City Activates Comprehensive Tourism Task Force

Focused Improvements on Prices, Transportation, Food, and Accommodation

Jeonnam Yeosu City (Jung Gi-myeong) will operate the 'Comprehensive Tourism Countermeasures Team' from March to October, when tourism demand increases, to closely respond to 15 sectors with high tourism service satisfaction.

According to the city, it recently established a plan to promote comprehensive tourism countermeasures, aiming to increase the satisfaction of tourists and citizens through preemptive measures and prompt handling of inconveniences at major tourist sites.

The 'Comprehensive Tourism Countermeasures Team' will be composed of 15 task forces, including △Situation Team △Citizen Complaints △Transportation △Food, Hygiene, and Accommodation △Waste △Public Restrooms, etc., operating from March 1 to October 27, with about 70 personnel from 11 departments deployed daily.

In particular, based on last year's tourism satisfaction survey results, the city plans to focus on improving four areas: tourism guidance and complaint handling, transportation, food, hygiene and accommodation, and waste management, to address dissatisfaction factors such as overcharging and prices of food.

To eradicate unfair business practices such as rudeness, overcharging, and solicitation in food and lodging businesses, the city will expand campaigns and hospitality training targeting the tourism industry and actively encourage voluntary participation of establishments offering fair prices.

Additionally, the city plans to alleviate traffic congestion at major tourist sites such as Hyangiram and Odongdo through traffic guidance and actively assist tourists' convenience by operating tourist information centers for transportation, accommodation, and customized guidance at major tourist attractions.

Jung Jae-ho, Director of the Fisheries Tourism Bureau, said, “We will create a clean tourism environment and provide warm services to build a ‘sustainable tourism city that visitors want to return to.’ We will comprehensively analyze reported inconveniences and actively utilize them to improve tourism quality.”
