Traffic Safety in Children Protection Zones: Crackdown on Violations and Other Offenses
The Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency (Chief Im Byeong-suk) will focus on implementing children's traffic safety measures for two months from March 26 to April 26, coinciding with the start of the school term at elementary schools across the province.
According to the police, during this period, efforts will be intensified to eradicate behaviors that threaten children's safety and to foster a 'child-centered' traffic culture atmosphere through active collaboration with related organizations by strengthening enforcement, publicity, and safety education.
To create a safe walking environment, not only traffic police but also exemplary drivers and Green Mothers will be concentrated during peak times when children are active, such as school arrival and dismissal hours, conducting visible patrol activities.
Enforcement will be strengthened especially around school zones at crosswalks without traffic signals and school routes where sidewalks and roads are not separated, which are high-risk areas for accidents. Illegal parking and the placement of banners that obstruct children's sight will be actively cracked down on and removed in cooperation with local governments.
To build a consensus on children's safety, face-to-face promotional activities such as the 'Children's Traffic Safety Campaign' will be conducted, and various media including the Jeonbuk Police Agency's SNS will be utilized to intensively promote children's safety themes and focus on guiding children's walking safety on their way to school.
