45 Regional Institutions, Universities, and Affiliated Organizations

Incorporating Learning Elements, High-Quality Programs

In line with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education's full implementation of the Neulbom School program in all elementary schools in the Busan area starting in March, various community-linked learning-type Neulbom programs will be actively operated.

This program is operated in connection with the 'Integrated After-School Program,' which the Busan Office of Education is the first in the nation to run.

Last year, it was operated by 29 institutions, but this year it has been expanded and operated by a total of 45 institutions, including 13 local organizations, 20 universities, and 12 institutions directly under the Office of Education. The Busan Office of Education expects to expand the breadth and deepen the learning experience through specialized programs utilizing the excellent facilities and educational resources of each institution.

Learning-type Neulbom programs at local Neulbom institutions will also be operated. For elementary school students in grades 1 to 3, various learning, experiential, and sports activity programs through two hours of daily reading and play have been prepared.

To foster reading habits that cultivate character and social skills, 100 books will be provided in all care Neulbom classrooms. By February, books will be stocked in Neulbom classrooms linked with the Education Research Information Center, Student Character Education Experience Center, private kindergartens, and others, and digital devices will also be distributed.

Using the distributed digital devices, programs such as AI PengTalk artificial intelligence English speaking, the 3R’s basic academic skills program, and Busan Speaking English 1.1.1. will be operated to enhance self-directed learning abilities.

For students in grades 4 to 6, high-quality programs incorporating learning elements will be operated utilizing excellent personnel and facilities from local institutions and universities. Students will learn SW and AI using urban architecture and physical teaching aids from university professors.

Additionally, students will participate in high-quality programs such as swimming, climbing, and woodworking programs at local institutions like sports centers and youth training centers, as well as English musicals and ballet at directly affiliated institutions.

The Busan Office of Education will also support vehicle operation costs, safety management expenses, and more to ensure that all students who wish to participate can safely and enjoyably join the distinctive programs of various community institutions at affordable tuition fees.

Details on how to apply for the programs will be provided later through official documents and other means.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “We will do our best to provide our children with warm ‘Care Neulbom’ and high-quality ‘Learning-type Neulbom Programs’ so that they can grow into healthy and capable future talents.”
