Candidate Kim Seong-jin and Representative Min Hyung-bae Reported to Election Commission for 'Spreading False Information'
The election office of Kim Seong-jin, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Gwangsan-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 23rd that it has reported preliminary candidate Min Hyung-bae to the Election Commission for spreading false information.
Kim's election office strongly criticized in a press release on the 23rd, stating, "In a phone interview on a certain radio broadcast on the 21st, preliminary candidate Min Hyung-bae said, 'In the case of candidate Kim Seong-jin (omitted), he stole the party membership list last time,' but the claim of theft is a clear falsehood."
They also stated, "On SNS, he posted, 'Even clearly illegal acts seem to be pardoned if done. They are trying to manipulate public opinion using biased media (text omitted),'” and condemned, "Illegal acts and public opinion manipulation are also clearly falsehoods and fabrications."
Furthermore, they said, "Spreading false information and fabrications as a preliminary candidate and a sitting member of the National Assembly seriously damages the honor of competing candidates," and criticized, "Above all, it disrupts the fair election order and maliciously affects the upcoming primary."
They added, "The central party has already recognized suitability as a Democratic Party primary candidate through the recent retrial acceptance," and questioned, "If Min's claims were true, would he have been recognized as a primary candidate in such a strict retrial?"
