Gyeongnam Province Appoints Kim Myung-joo, Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as New Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs
Gyeongsangnam-do has nominated Kim Myung-joo, Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, for the vacant position of Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs.
Gyeongnam Province stated that it judged the newly nominated Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, Kim, to be the right person to promote major economic issues such as the development of the southern coast tourism, expansion of investment attraction, and the dawn of the 10 trillion won national budget era.

According to the province, Kim is a financial and economic expert who passed the 39th Administrative Examination (Finance and Economy division) and has worked since 1996 at the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Budget Office, Fund Bureau, Strategic Planning Office, Fiscal Management Bureau, the National Economic Advisory Council, and the Presidential Secretariat.
He is also known to have a high understanding of international economic trends through his work at overseas diplomatic missions and international financial organizations.
After working at an international financial organization, he authored books titled "Do Not Speak of Africa Through the Eyes of White People I & II" and is praised for his excellent coordination and integration skills related to his work.
The position of Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs in Gyeongnam Province has been vacant since April due to the previous deputy governor’s resignation to run in the general election.
The province plans to officially appoint Kim at the end of February.

After his appointment, Kim will assist Governor Park Wan-su and take charge of overseeing and leading the remaining economic policies of the 8th elected term of Gyeongnam Province.
