Gyeonggi Province elevated its emergency medical response headquarters to the provincial disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters, led by the governor, on the 23rd in response to collective action by the medical community. This move follows the government's decision to raise the health and medical disaster crisis alert from the caution to the severe level due to the medical sector's collective action.
The Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is led by Governor Kim Dong-yeon, with the First Deputy Governor (Deputy Chief), Director of Safety Management Office (General Coordinator), and Director of the Health and Welfare Bureau (Controller) forming the command team. First, 73 emergency medical institutions and 21 emergency medical facilities within the province will maintain a 24-hour emergency medical system. The regional trauma centers in Gyeonggi, Ajou University Hospital and Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, will also provide 24-hour care for severe trauma patients.
Six hospitals affiliated with the Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center will extend their weekday medical hours until 8 p.m., and weekend and holiday medical services will be gradually implemented. The operating hours of public health centers in 31 cities and counties will also be expanded.
