Festival Promotion Committee Discusses Various Festival and Event Management Plans
Mokpo City plans to present a variety of rich festivals and events to its citizens and tourists throughout this year.
The representative festivals and events hosted by Mokpo City are the Yudalsan Spring Festival, Mokpo Marine W Show, and Mokpo Harbor Festival.
According to the city on the 21st, the Yudalsan Spring Festival will be held for two days from March 30 to 31 around Yudalsan Mountain under the theme "Yi Sun-sin's Choice, Nojeokbong." The Yudalsan Spring Festival, which has been held since 1996, is a seasonal festival that announces the arrival of spring in Mokpo and has been a beloved historic festival for citizens over a long period.
Last year, the festival was held face-to-face for the first time in four years since COVID-19 and concluded successfully. This year, it is being prepared more diversely by integrating Yi Sun-sin and naval content with the spring of Yudalsan.

The city is making every effort to prepare the Yudalsan Spring Festival to be filled with sights and activities by promoting the hopeful and warm spring scenery and Mokpo’s excellent historical resources.
Next, the event prepared by the city is the Mokpo Marine W Show, which has established itself as Mokpo’s representative nighttime tourism content. The Mokpo Marine W Show will be held on the marine stage at Peace Plaza on the last Saturday evening of every month from April to November with new and upgraded performances.
With the first performance scheduled for April 27, the city plans to gather various opinions to improve the quality of the performance and prepare an event that both citizens and tourists can enjoy together.
In particular, this year’s Marine W Show will bring back the "Dancing Sea Fountain," which was not operated last year, as part of a function improvement project. The city plans to welcome citizens and tourists with the most spectacular scale ever, along with exciting performances and fireworks shows.
The Mokpo Harbor Festival will be held for three days from September 27 to 29 around Mokpo Harbor and Samhakdo Island.
The harbor festival, which features the unique domestic content "Pasi" as its main theme, is a representative festival that Mokpo City is proud of. In last year’s festival evaluation, it achieved the great honor of being designated as a "2024-2025 Cultural Tourism Festival" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and a "2024 Jeollanam-do Representative Festival" by Jeollanam-do Province.
Mokpo City will not be complacent and plans to strive to develop diverse content that can be enjoyed not only by the entire nation but also by foreigners to leap forward as a global festival.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul said, "We plan to incorporate the city’s natural environment and historical resources into the festival programs and hope that many tourists will visit Mokpo, a marine tourism city." He added, "We will work hard to make all the festivals successful to revitalize the local economy and bring joy to both citizens and tourists."
