KT&G (President Baek Bok-in) donated approximately 120 million KRW in sponsorship funds for the 'Sharing Love Meal Service' to the Community Chest of Korea on the 19th to support free meals for neighbors in need. The sponsorship fund was raised through the "Sangsang Fund," which is composed of voluntary donations from KT&G employees. The Sangsang Fund, launched in 2011, is KT&G's unique social contribution fund where employees voluntarily donate a certain amount of their monthly salary, and the company matches the same amount in a "matching grant" format. The fund is used to support underprivileged groups domestically and internationally and to address urgent social issues.
Previously, KT&G employees and volunteers delivered the sponsorship funds and volunteered at the free meal center "Warm Filling Place" near Seoul Station. KT&G plans to regularly support meal costs for free meal services targeting vulnerable groups at Warm Filling Place and "Daejeon Seongmo House" for the next year, and employees will participate in meal distribution volunteering every month.
Since 2018, KT&G has continued the "Sharing Love Meal Service," a free meal support activity to improve the quality of life and balanced nutrition for vulnerable groups. The total accumulated sponsorship amount has reached 790 million KRW, benefiting approximately 120,000 people. Additionally, KT&G donated the "Hope Meal Truck" to Warm Filling Place to directly visit and provide meals to neighbors in need within the community.
