Honam University RIP Project Group Opens 'Eurasia Center' in Goryeoin Village
The Honam University Regional Innovation Platform Project Group held the opening ceremony of the Honam University Eurasia Center and the Eurasia Cultural Market in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu on the 17th as part of the regional innovation living lab project.
The regional innovation living lab project is being carried out with the purpose of establishing infrastructure to create "Historical Village No. 1," a village full of history and culture centered around Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, through collaboration between Honam University, Gwangsan-gu, and the Korean diaspora village. The project aims to develop representative tourism products for tourists and visitors to Wolgok 2-dong and to promote communication, cooperation, and mutual growth for Koreans and Eurasian immigrants.
The "Honam University Eurasia Center," which opened on the 17th, is an educational institution supported by the Korean diaspora village association (㈔Korean Diaspora Village), which has leased the space rent-free for five years to support entrepreneurial activities of both native residents and immigrants in Wolgok-dong. Based on this, it is expected to serve as a hub for discovering global cultural, educational, and tourism content and to develop a new Eurasian culture in the local community together with residents.
Also, at the "Eurasia Cultural Market" held that day with active participation from native residents and immigrants of Wolgok-dong, an event was held where attendees could taste foods developed through the "Gokyeol" (Korean Diaspora Breath) brand, which was named and developed directly by residents, including Korean Matryoshka bread and dishes from the world food cooking class.
The "Eurasia Cultural Market" event was attended by the Wolgok 2-dong Residents’ Autonomous Committee, Gwangsan-gu Wolgok Korean Diaspora Culture Center "Gyeol," Dalbit Village Tour Guides, and members of the Migrant Women’s Human Rights Education Research Institute, who pledged to work together to address and solve local issues centered around the Honam University Eurasia Center.
