Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Announces Recruitment for 'Seoul Mecenat Support Project' Companies and Art Groups
Application Submission Deadline Until the 15th of Next Month
Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 19th that it will recruit companies and arts organizations to participate in the '2024 Seoul Mecenat Support Project' until the 15th of next month.
The Seoul Mecenat Support Project is a program that supports arts organizations to carry out creative activities on a more stable foundation. When companies support arts organizations, the foundation provides additional matching support of up to 20 million KRW. It is regarded as a public-private cooperation model that strengthens the arts ecosystem by promoting corporate social contribution activities while simultaneously providing creative momentum to arts organizations.
Last year, through the Seoul Mecenat Support Project, a total of 790 million KRW, including 340 million KRW in foundation matching funds and 450 million KRW in corporate donations, was delivered to 27 arts organizations.
Arts organizations involved in theater, dance, music, traditional arts, multi-disciplinary arts, visual arts, and literature can apply for the support project after securing donations of at least 5 million KRW from small, medium, large enterprises, or public enterprises.
The Seoul Mecenat Support Project began in 2012. Over the past 10 years, the total amount of corporate sponsorship donations has been approximately 4.4 billion KRW, with 175 companies participating and supporting 243 arts activities. As interest in corporate social contribution has increased, the number of project applications last year doubled compared to five years ago, reaching 76 cases.
Chang-gi Lee, CEO of Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, stated, "We feel that corporate interest and demand for Mecenat activities have been growing recently," adding, "The foundation will gradually expand cultural and artistic social contributions together with companies to create a sustainable creative environment."
