Pretending to Be a Substitute Driver to Commit Robbery...Man in His 40s Arrested
A man who approached a driver pretending to be a designated driver and committed robbery was arrested by the police.
According to the police on the 17th, a man in his 40s, Mr. A, was urgently detained on suspicion of threatening a driver with a weapon and fleeing near the parking lot of a villa in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 6:50 a.m. that day.
Mr. A approached by getting into the passenger seat, saying, "Did you call a designated driver?" but the crime was not carried out as the victim immediately got out of the car.
Afterwards, Mr. A took a taxi and threatened the driver with a weapon, moving to Eungam-dong, Eunpyeong-gu. The police responded to a report from the taxi driver and urgently arrested Mr. A on the street in Eungam-dong at around 2:30 p.m. that day.

The police are investigating with the possibility that Mr. A is the same suspect involved in an incident on the 14th in Dapsimni-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, where money and valuables were extorted from a customer after designated driving.
