Neighbors' Pain, Neighbors Care... BPA, BPT, and Namgu Office Join Hands for Happiness Sharing Project
"Customized Welfare Services for Vulnerable Groups"
Fund Established from Eco-friendly Business Profits
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) signed a business agreement on the 15th with Busan Port Terminal Co., Ltd. (BPT, CEO Lee Jeong-haeng) and Nam-gu Office to promote the '2024 Happiness Sharing Project' to help neighbors in the Nam-gu area.
BPA joined hands with BPT, the operator of the Nam-gu container terminal, and others to assist vulnerable residents living near the port.
BPT, which operates Busan Port's Sinsundae and Gamman Wharf, will play a role as an eco-friendly company by installing solar power facilities within the terminal and will also allocate part of the profits generated from eco-friendly projects, amounting to approximately 10 million KRW, to the Love Sharing Fund.
BPA will cooperate in discovering specialized projects for the Nam-gu area of Busan, while Nam-gu Office will connect customized welfare services. Through this division of roles, they plan to carry out projects aimed at eliminating welfare blind spots for residents near the port and protecting socially vulnerable groups.
So far, BPA has installed three BPA Hope Pantries (branches 8, 9, and 13) within the Nam-gu area to support vulnerable groups. Additionally, welfare projects such as meal kit support for middle-aged and elderly people and LED light replacement for vulnerable households have been implemented.
Lee Jeong-haeng, CEO of BPT, said, “We are pleased to be able to use the profits from the solar power facilities for our neighbors while pursuing facilities for an eco-friendly terminal.”
