Daejeon City Extends Operation of Jeonse Damage Support Center to 'Every Tuesday'
Operating every Tuesday evening until 9 PM from the 20th
Considering convenience for students and office workers visiting the support center
Daejeon City announced on the 15th that the operating hours of the Jeonse Damage Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the Support Center) will be extended until 9 PM every Tuesday starting from the 20th.
The extension of operating hours was made in response to requests from most Jeonse victims, who are in their 20s and 30s, either students or working professionals, finding it difficult to visit the Support Center between 9 AM and 6 PM. Daejeon City plans to consider further extensions based on user status after extending the hours every Tuesday.
The Support Center will also provide a one-stop service for applying for auction and public sale support to alleviate the inconvenience of victims having to visit relevant agencies in person.
This initiative aims to reduce the inconvenience that Jeonse fraud victims have faced in having to visit and submit applications directly to different agencies responsible for each support measure under the special law. The one-stop service allows victims to prepare the required documents and submit their applications collectively at the Support Center without visiting separate agencies.
Previously, victims had to visit the court and tax office for auction and public sale deferrals, the tax office and local governments for tax claim apportionment, and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation for transfer of preemptive purchase rights. This service will resolve these inconveniences by enabling these support tasks to be handled at the Support Center.
As of the end of last month, a total of 1,756 cases of Jeonse fraud damage were reported in Daejeon. Among these, 96% were concentrated in multi-family housing, and 86% of the victims were young people in their 20s and 30s.
Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, “I hope tenants who have not yet reported their damage or received legal consultations due to personal circumstances such as work will actively utilize the extended hours of the Support Center,” and added, “Daejeon City will continue to do its best to prepare measures to support victims of Jeonse fraud.”
