Suncheon City Temporarily Supports Youth Monthly Rent
Up to 200,000 Won Monthly Support for Low-Income Youth
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Nogwan-gyu) announced that it will implement the 2nd phase of the Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support project, which provides housing rent support of up to 200,000 KRW per month for a maximum of 12 months to low-income young people without housing.
The support targets young people aged 19 to 34 who meet income and property requirements, live separately from their parents, and reside in housing with a lease deposit of 50 million KRW or less and monthly rent of 700,000 KRW or less.
Subscription to a housing subscription savings account is mandatory before applying. The income and property eligibility criteria are as follows: for the youth household, income must be 60% or less of the median income and total property value must be 122 million KRW or less; for the original household including parents, income must be 100% or less of the median income and total property value must be 470 million KRW or less.
However, if the youth is aged 30 or older or is married and living separately from their parents, only the income and property of the youth’s own household are applied.
Required documents include the monthly rent support application form, income and property declaration form, lease contract and proof of monthly rent transfer, pledge, copy of the bankbook to receive support, copy of the housing subscription savings account, and family relation certificates of the youth and parents.
If currently receiving the 1st phase of the Youth Monthly Rent Temporary Special Support, reapplication is possible after the support ends. For both the 1st and 2nd phases, any changes in contract details or address must be reported through a change application.
A city official said, “Since this project accepts applications temporarily for one year, we ask for active interest and promotion in the region including universities,” and added, “We expect that the implementation of this 2nd phase will enhance the housing welfare of low-income youth.”
