Gwangju Buk-gu Implements 'Youth Challenge Support Project'
Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City supports youth employment.
On the 14th, the district announced that it will implement the 'Youth Challenge Support Project' with a total budget of 1.372 billion KRW, including national funds.
This project is a policy that provides customized programs to help young people who have long job search periods or are on the verge of giving up job hunting to regain confidence and boost their motivation to find employment. The Ministry of Employment and Labor has been supporting this since 2021.
The district offers tailored programs including ▲intensive counseling ▲case management ▲confidence recovery ▲career exploration ▲employment competency enhancement to 270 young people aged 18 to 39 residing in the area, such as ‘job-seeking abandoned youth’ who have no record of employment or vocational training participation for more than six months, ‘self-reliant youth’ who have left child and youth welfare facilities, and ‘North Korean defector youth’.
The program consists of three courses: ▲short-term (5 weeks or more), ▲mid-term (15 weeks or more), and ▲long-term (25 weeks or more). Youth who complete the program will receive a challenge preparation fund ranging from a minimum of 500,000 KRW to a maximum of 3 million KRW depending on the participation period.
Youth who find employment within six months after completing the program and maintain employment for three months will receive an additional 500,000 KRW incentive. Employment services will also be provided, including strengthened linkage with the National Employment Support System for program completers.
