Daejeon Fire Department: "Relatively Safe Lunar New Year Holiday... 119 Calls Decreased by 10.5%"
The number of 119 emergency calls received by the Daejeon 119 Integrated Situation Room during the Lunar New Year holiday period decreased by 10.5% compared to the previous year.
According to the Daejeon Fire Headquarters on the 14th, a total of 4,194 119 calls were received at the situation room from the 9th to the 12th, which is a 10.5% decrease from last year’s Lunar New Year holiday (4,684 calls). The average daily number of calls received during this year’s holiday was 1,048.
By type, the number of fire, rescue, emergency medical, and other safety-related calls was 1,232, a 17.93% decrease compared to last year’s holiday (1,501 calls).
Additionally, emergency medical consultation calls totaled 1,787, down 10.8% from last year’s 2,001 calls. Among these emergency medical consultation calls, hospital-related inquiries accounted for 1,551 calls (86.79%).
During the Lunar New Year holiday, there were no casualties, and property damage significantly decreased from approximately 170 million won last year to about 30 million won this year, making it a generally safer holiday than usual, according to the Daejeon Fire Headquarters.
